Meta AI acts as a free assistant within Instagram. You can chat with it (@Meta AI), ask questions, generate AI images, and even use it to create stickers or edit visuals. However, there are drawbacks. Some users report that Meta AI’s answers aren’t always accurate, AI images often miss the mark, and its presence can feel intrusive. Currently, there’s no official way to turn off Meta AI on Instagram. But you can mute it by opening your DMs, searching for @Meta AI, opening the chat, and muting it. You can also delete the chat thread afterward. For data privacy, go to your profile → Settings → About → Privacy Policy → “How Meta uses information…” and fill out the opt-out form.
