You just found a relatable post on Instagram and want to tag your bestie—but how do you do it? Tagging helps connect people, boost engagement, and give credit. You can tag up to 20 people in a post or story.

To tag someone in a post or reel, type “@username” in the caption or use the “Tag People” option before sharing. For stories, use the text (“@username”) or the “Mention” sticker. You can even hide tags by dragging them off-screen.

If you forget to tag, edit your post later to add them. You can also manage who can tag you under Settings → Tags and Mentions.
